2019 truly has been the year of ESG.
ETF newcomer Shariah Portfolios is listing the world’s first shukuk ETF. Shukuk are Islamic bonds, basically. The difference is that the coupons get classed as profit sharing rather than interest. The biggest issuers of shukuk are the gulf states and Malaysia.
The SP Funds Dow Jones Global Sukuk ETF (SPSK) will invest in US dollar denominated investment grade sukuk that have been screened for Shariah compliance. From what we can tell, SPSK will mostly by shukuk issued by the Saudi government and companies.
The prospectus did not state a fee.
